Portugal 2004147 dogs and 29 national and international exhibitors attended the 15th Portuguese Podengo Club's Specialty Show that took place in May 29, 2004, in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal.
Matti Tuominen (FI), Jo o Vieira Lisboa (PT), Manuel Loureiro Borges (PT) and Carla Molinari (PT) were the judges. From among the breed best dogs presented, a small Podengo wire-haired female: "Maria Papoila" (in the photo) was chosen for Best in Show.
This annual assembly of breeders and other Podengo lovers, was a day of friendship between participants and visitors, demonstrating the breeder's involvement in the preservation of this rare breed.
After the show, a traditional lunch took place, followed by a meeting of international Podengo club signatories to the Lisbon Protocol, a document attesting to the support of this rare breed by parent clubs around the world.
On Sunday 30, the CPP organized a Portuguese Podengo functional demonstration at the Club training field in Sobral de Monte Agra o, near Lisbon. This event was designed for foreign visitors from several countries to be able to witness a hunt. For most it was the first opportunity to observe the Podengo in its native hunting environment.
