Since 2001, we have traveled to Portugal to visit various parts of the country and continue our education about the Portuguese Podengo. Each year, usually in May or June, the famed World Podengo Show, called Monografica, is held in one of the towns of Portugal. This is a fascinating show which offers the opportunity to see hundreds of all types and varieties of Podengos and see how they are evaluated and meet the winners. The following pages include some of our photos of these shows as well as other all-breed shows in various locales, including some right here in the United States.
Great News
Bucky (Bacalhau de Viamonte) and Caia (Sericaia do Vale Negro) achieved outstanding wins at the five National Podengo weekend shows May 5-6 in Pennsylvania. Bucky won two Winners Dog awards, a Best of Breed and a very competitive Best in Show Jr. Puppy. Caia won 4 out of 5 Winners Bitch and three Best of Breed awards. Showing versatility, fun-loving Bucky also shared a first place prize for best costume.
Caia achieved her American and Canadian Championships and is now officially recorded as an International Champion of Record by Rarities Inc. and NAKC. And little Bucky won two Best in Show Junior Puppy at Rarities Classic August 11. See details here and at the "Shows" page at www.podengos.com.
