| | | | These are our very first Podengos, in 2003. We were moving from Newport, Rhode Island to Old Saybrook, Connecticut, and they jumped in one of the moving boxes. Made a great picture! | We are fortunate to live in Old Saybrook, the second oldest town in Connecticut, located at the mouth of the Connecticut River. The Nature Conservancy has designated the salt marshes on the lower Connecticut River as One of the 40 Last Great Places in the Western Hemisphere.
The keen environmental consciousness of the community has resulted in the protection of The Preserve, a two thousand acre coastal forest at the north end of town where we frequently take our Podengos on long walks. In addition, the town itself offers ample opportunities for socializing our Podengos, from visits to its farm market, banks, and post office to the many small shops and galleries that welcome pets. Our local dog school is one of the best in the state, featuring regular classes, handling, agility and other activities. The following photos show Mali, Caia, Bucky, Donzela and Schwartz here at home and our Porto Novo Podengos around the state and the country. Click to enlarge.
